How To Be Successful In Life: Free training and instruction

Today is the day to leave the sidelines, get involved and take control of your life.
Right Here Is Where You Start.

There are any number of reasons why you feel stuck and not getting ahead in life.  To answer the question “How To Be Successful In Life” let’s take a look at a few things.

How much time do you spend watching television?  Do you waste too much time on video games and social media?  Maybe you hang out too much with your friends and sleep too late.   Maybe you have low self esteem. Are you an “I can’t” person?  Do you complain that you don’t have time for that or you don’t have enough money for that. Do you blame everyone else?  She/he won’t let me do that.   I’m not good at that.  I’m not young/old enough.  I’m not pretty enough.  I’m not strong enough.  I’m not smart enough.  I’m not, I’m not, I’m not, I’m not.  When you keep saying these things all the time the universe says “your wish is my command” and your words become your reality.

If you are happy and content letting life pass you by, not making any meaningful contribution to yourself and society, this is not for you.  On the other hand, if you are not satisfied and want to make a change, please continue reading.

Stop Making Excuses

Making excuses is not accepting personal responsibility but shifting the blame to where it doesn’t belong.  We all make mistakes and excuses from time to time, but we should own up to them.  This practice might begin as early as school days for some, claiming the dog ate their homework.  While it might seem harmless at the time, making excuses early in life often develops into bigger habits and excuses later.  Stop feeling sorry for yourself, everyone has a sad story.

It is your choices, your actions and your behaviors that creates the life you will have.  Own up to your mistakes and stop blaming other people. You can’t learn from your mistakes if you won’t acknowledge you’ve made them.  If you don’t learn from your mistakes, most of the time you will surely repeat them.  When you do accept responsibility you’re likely to make better decisions in the future.

Focus On Things You Can Control

Sometimes part of the problem is focusing on and spending time and energy on other people’s stuff;  things we have no control over.  Turn the tables around and focus instead on things you can control.  You can control the following:

  • Your priorities
  • What you think about
  • What you talk about
  • How open/closed minded you are
  • How kind you are to others
  • What you believe
  • How personally you take things
  • What you eat
  • Your personal effort
  • Who you hang out with
  • How seriously you take life
  • Your own happiness

Decide What Success Is For You

What exactly does it mean to really be successful in life?  Maybe for you it’s being able to travel when and as long as you wish.  Is your success about having an abundance of money, or being rich and famous?  Does it mean being a super star with fan clubs and groupies?   Perhaps happiness to you is the American dream to have a good job, a family of four with a nice house and a two car garage.  Success to you might mean living a charitable life devoted to service and helping the less-fortunate around the world.

Whatever your answer is, success is not the same for everybody. Each individual want something a little different.  We don’t all want lamborghinis.  So set your sites on the car of your dreams, the house of your dreams, and the life of your dreams and go for it.  I know, you asked but where do I start.

How to Become a Confident and Successful Person

Now that there are no more excuses, decide that you are ready for success, and ready to do whatever it takes.   Success requires the every day practice of a few simple rules made for your particular goals.  Please pause to watch this brief video.

Be aware that the mind is habitual and it can be unrelenting. It operates on inner desires for pleasure that are rooted in our genetic code.  Our job as enlightened human beings is to exercise self-discipline to override that desire for immediate gratification.

  • Do a lot of what you’re good at to boost your self confidence.
  • Be willing to improve your mind body and spirit and work at it every day.
  • Stop always looking for the easy way out.
  • Look in the mirror and remind yourself everyday how awesome a human life is, how great you are intended to be.
  • Remember you have been given dominion over all other living creatures.

Food For Thought

What is the greatest computer, Mac, PC?  How about the massive mainframe computers they have at NASA.  Be aware, the correct answer is our brain is the greatest computer in the world.  Not only that, our eyes are the greatest camera in the world.  Every second of the day our eyes take in 72 gigabytes of information.

Everything your eyes take in is stored behind a firewall in your brain.  It’s there for you to use to shape your life.  Everyone you ever meet, every experience, every memory, every story, every emotion, is stored there for you to draw from, to learn from, and to create from.  It’s you and you are unique and special in your own way.

In the article “How To Have A More Positive Outlook On Life“, we determined there is no big book in the sky where you can find your talents and mission in life written in advance.  Our creator and the universe have given each one of us a brain and a powerful camera/sense of sight, and a sense of hearing.   If that isn’t enough, we also have the senses of smell, taste, touch, vestibular/movement and balance, and proprioception/relative positioning and movement.  Example: Clapping our hands together with our eyes closed.

Now The Ball Is In Your Court

Now that you have digested the food for thought, what will you do with the information?  Whether your vice is overeating, smoking, gambling or just watching too much television, you have been given the tools to change.  You know that those vices give you instant gratification and long term pain.  Earlier in this article we said, “our job as enlightened human beings is to exercise self-discipline to override that desire for immediate gratification”.

Finally, look in the mirror every day, several times a day if necessary.  Remember, your brain is the greatest computer in the world. Not only that, your eyes are the greatest camera in the world. Every second of the day your eyes take in 72 gigabytes of information that is stored behind a firewall for your use.

That is who you are and, ready or not, the ball is now in your court. What will you do with it?  Only you can decide.

  1. The only way to be successful is to get off the on ramp and get on the road. It’s all about planning and making goals and then taking action. Being negative is never going to get it done. Once you change your attitude things will begin to happen.
Whatever you put your mind to you can accomplish. But it takes patience and hard work and you must be willing to have both. I love what you said about your brain being the best computer in the world. It’s true! We must put our minds to work and on the road to success!

  3. Great words of wisdom! It is what we control, and one of the most powerful things we can control is our thoughts. I’m always reminding myself how important life is with my family and friends. And how important just living is over worry. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Hi JB,

Thank you for your comments, I appreciate you taking the time. Yes I had to learn the hard way that worry only creates added stress and anxiety to all of the other issues you’re dealing with. So we learn to do what we have the power to do and other things work themselves out one way or the other. All the best to you JB.

  4. Thanks for your truthful opening Vanna. I think most of us procrastinate in accomplishing a better future for ourselves, we knock ourselves thinking we’re not good enough whilst many of us are influenced by negativity brought on by friends & family.
Unfortunately, only we can only change things for ourselves if we are willing to take the first steps and put in the effort to achieve, nobody will do it for us, that’s for sure.

  5. Some excellent pearls here Vanna. I’m a true believer in everything you have said here and have seen the changes in my own life and that of others when they start to take control and responsibility for themselves. Too many people are happy to give over their own power by blaming others, which leaves them waiting for other people to change in order to be happy. When you take responsibility for your own happiness, you get all the power back, which is great.
    Thanks for the reminder.

    1. Hello Gail,
What wonderful comments, thank you. Yes sometimes we fall down but that’s life. I say just have a good laugh/cry, get up and try again. We learn from our mistakes and hopefully do better the next time. But at least we can say we tried. All the best to you Gail.
