How To Have A More Positive Outlook On LIfe

There is no big book in the sky where you can find your talents and mission in life written in advance.  So may I suggest you stop wasting your time waiting for the answer to be dropped into your brain for the light bulb to come on.  On the other hand, there are universal laws that we should be aware of and practice diligently.  Understanding and practicing the law of attraction and the law of energy, can be real helpful to anyone trying to have a new outlook on life.  You will learn that the answer is within you not in a big book in the sky.  Universal laws are covered further along in this article.  It is not too late, there is no time better than the present. Decide what your strengths are, convert talent to opportunity and turn opportunity into success.

It Is Not Too Late

Please ask yourself, what am I waiting for?  Are you afraid of making the wrong decision. Do you think it would be wasting your time or maybe even losing a few dollars. Would it be worse than how you feel now living with the situation you’re currently in.  Maybe it’s your current job, or maybe you’re totally dependent on someone else.  So what if you take a chance on something and it doesn’t work out. If you stumble, learn from the experience and get back up. I heard a popular speaker say, “we fall down but get back up because down is no place for winners”.  If you think you can or if you think you can’t, either way you are right.

Seek guidance from elders, leaders and experts in the field in question. Understanding Universal Laws is a good place to start. What are Universal Laws and why are they important? Click the link for good books on the subject.
First we need to be aware of the universal laws then embrace them. We should also understand that these laws affect how things turn out in our lives. This article is not about the universal laws but I have chosen to include the Law of Attraction in this blog.

The Law of Attraction merely states that you attract into your life whatever your dominant thoughts are.  Those thoughts will eventually find a way to manifest themselves into form. So just using the law of attraction at face value, what we think about all the time we bring about. The law doesn’t change based on who you are, it does not judge or play favorites. Therefore, If you go through your day dwelling on bad situations and thinking negatively, you are bringing more of that to you.

I mentioned the Universal Laws hoping to arouse your curiosity. Knowledge and understanding of this universal energy would probably be a big boost to your new beginning. So start there or start with something else that might interest you, but start something different.
It is not too late but you have to decide to try, commit to giving it your best shot. So what if it doesn’t quite work out the way you expected. Have an adventure, be open and curious, meet new people, try to have fun and learn from whatever experience you’re having. Volunteer to help others and find out what a difference you can make.

The Longer You Wait

What happens if you continue to be indecisive?  Dreams and desires ignored or postponed for a long period could lead to depression, resentment and anger.  Eventually you begin to beat yourself up with coulda woulda shoulda and ifs ands and buts.  So what if you make a mistake the first time, indecision and inaction is worst. Or as my daughter like to say, “don’t panic, it’s not the titanic”.

I’m reminded of a professor who did a demonstration with a glass.  The class thought he would ask them if the glass was half empty or half full.  But instead he asked the class to tell him how heavy the glass was. Some gave wild guesses but didn’t understand why the question was asked.  The professor explained that the weight of the glass did not really matter.  He explained that if he held the glass for a few minutes it would be very light. If he held the glass for an hour straight  his arm would start to ache. If he continued and held the glass for a day straight his arm would cramp up, get numb and he would drop the glass.  The weight of the glass never changed, but the longer he held it the heavier it felt.  Remember to put the glass down.

The moral of the story is to let go of worries, and people that are weighing us down. Never carry it or them with you all day and wake up with the same thing the next day.  Replace that by getting busy doing something that makes you happy.  I know, sometimes it’s not as easy as it sounds.  It might not be but I was there and now I’m writing this inspiration for someone else.  We have to give ourselves a chance by at least trying something different.

Decide What Your Gifts Are

This brings us back to the beginning paragraph of this article.  There is no big book in the sky that has a road map for your life.  You might be a believer and say you are waiting on your creator to direct you. I might be wrong but it seems like our creator and the universe are waiting for us to tell them what we want to do.  Once we make a decision and take action they are waiting to back us up.

I like to think I’ve gained some wisdom over the years but even as a teenager I could not buy in to my life being predestined.  Do you mean to tell me that we have been given these awesome brains and bodies just to chase our tails?  On the other hand, each one has been given special talents and strengths to be applied in our lives.

Most of us will say we don’t know what our talents are the first time we’re asked.  We get a little too hung up on the words talents and gifts instead of also thinking about strengths.  When we think about our strengths, it comes easier than gifts and talents.  Make a list with two columns, one for strengths and one for weaknesses.

  • First, do you want to be in control of your life?
  • What do you enjoy that you can’t wait to get to every chance you get?
  • Do you enjoy competition?
  • Are you persistent and resilient?
  • Are you a self-starter and self-reliant?
  • Are you the stronger or weaker one among siblings, family members and co-workers?
  • What do you like to do that comes natural and easy to you?
  • Are you already doing these things for family and friends.?
  • Are you the go to person at home, in your community or in the office when they want certain things done?

This brief video is excellent for more insight into finding your talent and strengths.

See Your Gifts As Opportunity

There are countless entrepreneurs who have become successful by turning their hobbies and strengths into business. Some were even thought to be goof-offs because their hobby is where they spent all the time they could. If you are still not able to decide, ask people around you what they think your talents and strengths are. People who know you well know what you do well and are best suited for.

Get up, get out and try new things. A world of information is at our fingertips now.  Search for people who are successful in your field and see what they did and how. Take advantage of free training, attend free seminars and workshops about different things to get ideas.  Let go of the past and things you can’t control.

Well that’s about all I have for this post but please leave a comment or question and I will respond gladly.

Until next time I wish you success and good health!

  3. It took me a while to learn how to embrace my gifts and appreciate what I had to offer. I grew up under so much negativity. Learning how to break free of doubt was a job. Even when I knew what I had to offer, I had to fight so much fear.

    Thanks for this article.

    1. You are so welcome Lane and thank you for taking the time to read it. The whole idea is to be transparent in hopes it will inspire someone else to work past their fear. To let others know they are not alone, we all have negative experiences and negative people to deal with.
The question is, what will I do about it? Thanks again for your comments, I wish you all the best Lane.
